Rescue Four is a 1986 Ford E-250 Van. This vehicle belonged to the City of Roanoke, and at the time was being used by the fire department as a medical response vehicle. The fire department replaced the van with a 4-wheel drive SUV and gave the van back to the town of Roanoke. The town board was to place the vehicle where they saw fit, and none of the other departments wanted the vehicle. So, the director of Huntington County Rescue made known to the town of Roanoke that his department would be interested in purchasing the vehicle at a reasonable price.
The town board discussed the matter and offered the truck to Huntington County Rescue at no cost because of the many years of assistance to the fire department and the local town with their services. Huntington County Rescue had the truck refurbished and repainted.
The truck is used as a crew transport; also, it carries our poly-cribbing, which is used for stabilization of vehicles and walls of buildings, etc. This vehicle has made a really nice addition to our fleet.
