Rescue Three is a 1993 Chevy Suburban that our program acquired from the Huntington County EMA. This vehicle has also had an interesting life.
It was purchased new by the Huntington County Highway Department and was used there for many years. Approximately 8 years ago, the County Highway Department decided that the truck had served its purpose and purchased a new truck to replace this one. That is when the Huntington County EMA Department was able to obtain this truck. They used the truck for a couple of years until some mechanical issues arose with it. They decided that it was going to be too costly to maintain, so they offered it up to any department that wanted it. So, here we are after fixing all of the problems (which turned out to be fairly few), and the truck has been put back into service.
Presently, Rescue Three is a certified BLS-non-transport vehicle. It has a full complement of medical gear on board, along with an AED. Also on board, it has an extrication Hurst power unit along with a Hurst Combi Tool. This truck contains extra hand tools and additional scene lighting, and overall, it serves as a support vehicle to Rescue One.
